Gene's ProTouring 1969 Camaro
Gene brought us this ’69 Camaro as a complete shell and wanted to build a ProTouring car like the ones he’s seen in magazines and on TV. He had been following the ProTouring forums for a long time and dreamed of what he wanted to do in his car someday. Once he retired, he gave us a call to get the ball rolling.
His vision was a traditional ProTouring ’69 Camaro with LS power, Detroit Speed suspension, big brakes, the works. We kept it pretty simple for him, but added our own spice a few places. He supplied the LSX454 powerplant from Chevrolet Performance and we got to work tearing it apart and fixing the cluster of body work that it needed.
He didn’t want to go crazy with body mods, but we took the factory style cowl hood and added in a set of vents on each side to both give it a cool look, and get heat out from the engine bay. Anvil Auto supplied the carbon fiber spoiler, fender braces and core support cover to give it a few carbon fiber touches.
We completed the car in August of 2020 and since, he’s taken it to multiple of Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car events, including one appearance at the finals. This car truly gets beat on it like it was meant to and we’re proud of it.
