The Green Hornet – 1972 AMC Hornet

Jacob Davis is a young guy from Georgia who’s always had a thing for hot rodding and nearly blowing things up. It would only make sense that he found himself friends with Mike Finnegan of Roadkill and has been on many a trip with him. In 2015, Jacob bought this ’72 Hornet in California and immediately drove it back home to Georgia. That’s a 2,200-mile trip in three days on an untested 43 year-old car. Unusually, he had no issues on that trip. He started to get confident in the little Hornet and started beating down on the little six cylinder that wouldn’t quit.

He drove it on Hot Rod Power Tour 2015, took it to Woodward Dream and Cruise and multiple other trips and decided it was time to go crazy. He put a bunch of shiny parts such as a Comp cam, Clifford Performance intake and headers, 390cfm Holley 4-barrel, MSD ignition system and last but not least, a direct-port injection nitrous kit. His plan is to force as much nitrous into the six cylinder as it’ll take under it blows up and he has an excuse to put another motor in it.

For now, it’ll be the little Hornet that could as it’s about to make a 6,000-mile trip in the wagon for the Hot Rod Power Tour long haul. His goal is to build something nobody else has. His future plans include a modern fuel-injected Hemi and a full racing-spec chassis, but that’s in the future. Stay tuned!
