Old-School Cool: 1968 Chevelle Big Block 4 Speed For Sale

While muscle cars may have started in the early 60’s, there are few cars immediately recognized as muscle cars like the ’68-69 Chevelle. They have big hips, often a “Come at me bro!” rake and just scream muscle car. They bring out the kid in us when we jump in, grab the 4-speed shifter and crank up the rowdy big block. Your neighbors may not be quite as appreciative, but the smile on your face says it all. We have a thing about immediately wanting build every super solid, original floor pan car we get in, but this ride had a certain charm that screamed to leave it alone, so we did.I mean, listen to it in the video below and tell us we’re wrong.

We build a lot of ProTouring cars at Classic Car Liquidators, mostly Chevelle’s, with LS powerplants, RideTech suspension, paint jobs you can dive into and much more, but there’s always a soft spot for a simple, rowdy hot rod like this ’68. The last ’68 we sold was a $70,000 fully built ProTouring style car that was a blast to drive, but this super simple car at half the price can put an even bigger smile on your car. The new stuff that makes these cars hang with the modern junk rocks but jumping back to the 70’s via a big block and 4-speed manual transmission is a truly religious experience. Don’t be misled, this isn’t a 10-second drag car, it’s the car that pisses your neighbors off and scares the kids every morning when you start it up.

Drop the clutch and you’ll find yourself hazing tires to the aluminum-headed 454. If you’re not into that, lean into the throttle and she’ll roll out nicely until you run out of balls to keep it to the floor. With our ProTouring builds we strive to take that lean and sway out of the car, which also removes the front to rear weight transfer which these cars are famous for. There’s something strangely addicting about feeling the back of the car tuck down while the wheels feel like they’re taking flight. That’s what driving a muscle car is about and this car reminds me of that. I’ll be sad to see this one go. For pricing and more info, click below!
